Nissan Sunny Sedan

Nissan Sunny
Automotive News : Nissan Sunny Sedan - The natural phenomenon of releasing the sedan version after the success of the hatch back is quite common in India. The list includes Tata Indica-Indigo, Maruti Swift-Desire and so on. World class car manufacturer Nissan is launching a similar version of their small size car Micra with a sedan, which they call Sunny.

The Nissan Sunny is expected to have both petrol and diesel versions with the same engine capacity of 1.5 Litre. The engine seems to be quite simple with a power output of 100 bhp and a maximum torque of 146 Nm delivered through a 5 speed manual gear box.

The Sunny will have to compete with Honda City, Hyundai Verna, Maruti Swift Dzire, Tata Indigo Manza, Ford Fiesta and will be tagged with price ranging between 8 to 10 Lakhs . Guess its a tough time ahead.

The car has been styled so well to make it attractive with the exterior looks as well as the interior. Sunny is expected to have all the comfort and safety features to top in the segment which includes Power steering, Powered rear view mirrors, parking sensors and the most interesting feature of Nissan- Push button Start/Stop.

As part of the safety features , it is equipped with SRS Dual air bag, ABS- with Electronic Braking force Distribution and Brake Assist System, front and side impact beams. The Nissan Sunny is available in variant colours like Royal Black, Grey, Silver, Copper, Red, Blue, White and it is expected to have its launch by April.

The Nissan Sunny is expected to boast a 1.5 litre DCi diesel engine with a different tune compared to the engine in the Micra hatchback plus, a 1.6 litre petrol engine is also on cards. Both the petrol and diesel engines are to be highly fuel efficient and responsive thanks to dual injectors. The diesel engine could be tuned to produce around 85 bhp or more while the petrol to more than 100 horsepower. Prices for the car are expected around 7 lakh rupees and rivaling the likes of the Ford Fiesta, Hyundai Verna, Fiat Linea and Maruti Suzuki SX4. Hence, pricing will be crucial for Nissan and lets hope the company does not make another Micra out this.
